HONESDALE -- SAGECare training help the staff at the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging understand the unique needs and concerns of LGBTQ+ older adults to provide the best possible person-directed care. A SAGECare credential indicates that a provider has completed training on LGBTQ+ aging by SAGECare Leadership or Certified Trainers, using SAGE-certified curricula.
LGBTQ+ older adults may interact very differently with providers as a result of their histories, personal experiences, and life narratives — which are often very different from non-LGBTQ+ people.When the staff understands the lived experiences of others, they provide even more compassionate and truly person-directed care for theLGBTQ+ — and other diverse – community members.
