Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced that Shane Murphy, Jr., 32, of The Hideout, Lake Ariel PA, was arrested for Aggravated Assault of a police officer (F1), Simple Assault (M2), Resisting Arrest (M2), and Disorderly Conduct (M3).
On May 6, 2024, the Defendant became agitated, irate, and belligerent prior to a summary trial for Careless Driving and Reckless Driving outside of the office of the District Magistrate at the Wayne County Courthouse in Honesdale PA.
Upon being arrested for Disorderly Conduct and removed from the Courthouse, the Defendant continued to be resistant, belligerent, and disorderly causing the arm of the trooper to go through the glass on the entrance door to the Courthouse. The Trooper suffered cuts from the glass that required stitches and glue to close the wound.

The Defendant is set to appear at Central Court on May 15, 2024. District Magistrate Jonathan Dunsinger set bail at $100,000.00. The Defendant is held in the Wayne County Correctional Facility.
