BHARP Resilience & Recovery Virtual Confernce
Thursday, September 23, 2021
Conference features Elizabeth Smart as Keynote Speaker.
This workshop talks to attendees about what trauma is, how it can affect us throughout our lives, and what we can do about it. This will help participants feel more comfortable talking about their trauma. A skill building portion is designed to help attendees feel more confident in using the skills they are taught along with identifying the skills they already use to help organize their “trauma closet”.
In her captivating message, Elizabeth shares her incredible story of perseverance in the face of unimaginable adversity. Her speech not only tells her personal story, but discusses topics such as overcoming extreme adversity, the importance and process of recovery, and not allowing your past to dictate your life’s future.
A final panel discussion tackle “Creating Caring Communities Through Resiliency and Hope: A Trauma Informed Systems Approach” with Lauren Albright, Dr. Kristen Hennessy (trauma therapist), Megan Neugebauer (CASSP Coordinator), Aurora Gladfelter (clinician), Sandy Prince (CYS), and Layne Norris (JPO), in exploring how to develop a trauma informed system within your community to assist families to remain together during times of intensive symptomology of trauma.
The team explores the challenges existing in the system and how to overcome the systemic barriers.
