The Mental Health Pandemic -- Strategies for Helping Students

The mental health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will be a concern for years to come. Thus, early intervention as schools enter the 2021-22 school year is integral. This session will introduce risk actors including racial and socioeconomic disparities, trauma, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth mental health.

Presented by Terri A. Erbacher, Ph.D., Clinical Associate Progression of School Psychology, the  webinar will prepare participants to enter this upcoming school year better understanding the challenges students may face and be armed with strategies to assist youth in this transition. This presentation will utilize a framework consistent with a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) to implement tiered mental health interventions based upon student need Suicide risk will be addressed with strategies for identifying and supporting youth at risk.
