May 18 Caregivers Conference Offers Info on Local Services


HONESDALE (April 20, 2017) — The Wayne County Area Agency on Aging and the Monroe/Pike/Wayne Aging and Disabilities Resource Center (ADRC) sponsors a one-day conference packed with information for those who are caregivers of older adults and people with disabilities on May 18 at Ladore Camp and Conference Center in Waymart.

Speakers and topics of interest include: Wheelchair Safety and Accessibility; Easy Healthy Cooking/Soft Food Preparation; Advance Directives, Living Wills; County In-Home Supports and Services; Dementia Information; Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy/Speech Therapy; Home Modifications; and more including vendor tables packed with information.

On site caregiving services may be available if the need arises with registration. Pre-registration is required for the conference, for caregiving needs as well as transportation to the conference as needed.

The day begins with Danish and coffee at 9:30 am with the conference beginning at 10 o’clock and the last breakout session concluding at 3 pm. To register call 570-253-4262 between 8 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

Caregivers needing or wanting some respite services or an affordable long-term care service option should contact the Wayne/Pike Adult Day Services program located at 337 Park Place Suite B, Hawley – 570-390-7388.

The Adult Day Services are provided through Telespond Senior Services, both are funded, in part, under a contract with the PA Department of Aging, the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties, the Wayne and Pike County Area Agency’s on Aging and the Wayne and Pike County Boards of Commissioners.
