  1. Special Olympics Young Athlete Program

    April 4, 2019, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Shohola Elementary School

    The Special Olympic Young Athlete Program is an innovative sports play program that uses games, songs and other play activities to help children develop motor, social and cognitive skills. This program is designed for children ages 2.5 to seven years old with intellectual disabilities or developmental delays to teach the foundation skills such as running, balancing, jumping, catching, kicking and throwing. Important Information: parents are required to stay during each session and assist their child as needed activities; participants should wear sneakers, comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle. The Area P Specail Olympics serves Wayne, Pike, Wyoming and Lackawanna County including Scranton.

    Join The Lodge at Woodloch’s Certified Forest Bathing experts, Joshua Heath and Derrick Braun, for an introduction to the philosophy of Shinrin-Yoku, or Forest Bathing at The Cooperage in Honesdale. Learn how slow and contemplative walks through the forest (something you may have been doing all of your life) can help to focus your body and mind. Learn how to be in the present while learning techniques for deep breathing, mindbody awareness as well as taking note of the little miracles of the forest. Shinrin-Yoku, otherwise known as Forest Bathing was coined in Japan and growing research shows that there is a marked decrease in stress-related hormones, a decrease in heart rates and lower blood pressure among other monumental benefits.
