  5. Honesdale High School Presents "Beauty and the Beast"

    A wandering enchantress transforms a cruel and vain prince into a hideous Beast, leaving him only one way to reverse the curse - fall in love with another and earn her love in return. Belle, a beautiful book-lover, encounters the Beast when she arrives at his castle to plead for her father’s freedom, ultimately trading her own for his. As tension over her imprisonment escalates in the town, spurred by Gaston, the selfish lover who seeks Belle’s hand in marriage, the relationship between Belle and the Beast grows, leading to an emotional, and transformative, conflict.

    Sounds Like Teen Spirit is an open mic night designed to provide an opportunity to showcase the talent of our community’s youth. School-aged students are encouraged to share their performing art on stage. If you play guitar, rap, perform stand-up comedy, write poetry, sing, juggle or play keyboards this is the perfect place to get some experience and gain inspiration in front of a supportive audience! Parents, please pass the memo onto your kids. Please note: all ages are invited to come watch and enjoy the evening, but only the area’s youth will be invited to step up on stage.

  11. An Afternoon of Advocacy & Music

    Maywood University Students studying to become Music Therapists and other students studying music will be sharing their talent in order to advocate for Music Therapy. It is a family friendly event, and will be a partially interactive experience where, at times, the audience will be able to play instruments. Attendees will be able to enjoy all types of music and will also learn more about Music Therapy. There will be raffles, and instruments you can make.You’ll have an opportunity to chat with the students and ask them all about Music Therapy.

  12. Jazz Trio 'Mostly Other People Do the Killing" Performs

    Enjoy a Sunday afternoon of original jazz compositions by Moppa Elliot, performed by the trio Mostly Other People Do The Killing. Mostly Other People Do the Killing formed in 2003 when bassist/composer Moppa Elliott met drummer Kevin Shea. The group was initially a quartet and has expanded to a septet before settling into its current configuration as a piano trio. Pianist Ron Stabinsky joined the ensemble in 2011 when they performed a tribute to Booker Little and Eric Dolphy as well as their recording project “Blue” in which they recreated Miles Davis’ classic album “Kind of Blue” note-for-note.
