BEACH LAKE -- The Wayne County Recycling Center reopens to the public on Wednesday, May 27, and while the hours of operation will remain 7 am to 4:30 pm, the facility will only be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday at first.
“We will be implementing social distancing practices, as well as other safety measures, to protect our staff and the recycling public,” said County Recycling Director Randy Heller.
To that end, only one vehicle at a time will be allowed in the recycling bay and residents will be required to wear a mask to exit their vehicle. Residents are urged to pre-sort their recyclables in the interest of moving thing along.
To maintain distancing, recycling center staff will not be directly assisting the public with their recyclables. Therefore, residents are asked to only bring items that they can lift themselves, unless they bring a helper with them.
“We also ask residents to stay at home if they are sick or not feeling well,” Heller explained.
The public will not be allowed to enter the office area. Any questions or money transactions will need to take place outside of the building (just ask a staff member or knock on the office doors).
The Commercial Truck Scale will also be re-open for public use.
Heller said, “We appreciate the patience shown by our loyal customers during our closure, and thank them in advance for their anticipated cooperation during our re-opening.
