HONESDALE (May 19, 2020) – Wayne County Sheriff Mark Steelman has updated the protocols for those applying for a License to Carry a Firearm once the yellow COVID-19 restrictions begin on Friday, May 22.
Applications for the License to Carry are available on the Sheriff’s Department web page.
New applicants should mail or drop off an application packet at the Wayne County Courthouse, 925 Court St., Honesdale PA 18431 with a check for $5 for the initial fee. Appointments will be made to finalize the applications ($15).
Applicants for renewal will be mailed a notice and application 60 days prior to the expiration of their current permit. When it has been received, applicants should call the office for an appointment. If your permit has expired or you not receive notice, contact the Sheriff’s Office at 570-253-2641.

Sheriff Steelman has also announced that his office will resume their electronic fingerprinting for IDentiGO clients on June 1. The service will also be offered five days a week to meet the demand of clients who could not have their fingerprints taken during the stay-at-home order.
